These terms govern your use of the 4Drive Bosnia booking platform and the hire of vehicles arranged through our service. By completing a booking, you accept these conditions in full. The rental agreement itself is signed directly with the local supplier at the point of collection.
4Drive Bosnia operates a platform that connects customers with local vehicle rental companies across Bosnia and Herzegovina. We facilitate the booking process and handle advance payment. The actual rental agreement, including liability terms and insurance coverage, is concluded between you and the local supplier when you collect the vehicle.
These terms apply to all bookings made through our website. Specific conditions relating to your chosen vehicle, including deposit requirements and accepted payment methods for the balance, are detailed in your booking confirmation and voucher.
When you complete a booking on our platform, you receive a voucher containing the details of your reservation, the contact information for the local rental company, and the pick-up instructions. Collection may take place at a counter, at the airport terminal, or via delivery to your accommodation, depending on the supplier.
At the point of collection, you sign the rental agreement directly with the local company. That document sets out the terms of hire, the excess amount applicable, the permitted use of the vehicle, and the procedure for reporting damage. Any pre-existing damage is recorded in the agreement before you drive away.
The rental company provides the contact details you need during the hire period. Questions about the vehicle condition, roadside assistance, or changes to your itinerary should be directed to them in the first instance.
When you book through 4Drive Bosnia, you pay a booking advance online by card. This secures your reservation and is deducted from the total hire cost. We do not accept cash payments online.
The remaining balance is paid when you collect the vehicle. The acceptable payment methods for the balance depend on the specific vehicle you have booked and are stated clearly in your voucher. Options may include debit card, cash, or credit card. If you do not hold a credit card and one is required, we recommend ensuring your debit card has a sufficient available limit.
The balance payment is made directly to the local rental company, not to 4Drive Bosnia. The amount due is confirmed in your voucher and at the counter.
Most vehicles require a deposit, which is a temporary hold placed on a payment card at the time of collection. The deposit amount and the type of card accepted vary by vehicle and are specified in your booking details and voucher.
The deposit is held by the local rental company as security against damage, traffic fines, or fuel shortages. It is released after the vehicle is returned and inspected, typically within a few days to a few weeks, depending on the card issuer.
The deposit requirement is independent of the insurance coverage or excess that applies to your hire. Even when no upfront deposit is required for certain vehicles, an excess remains payable in the event of damage.
The main driver must present a valid driving licence at collection. Foreign licences are generally accepted for short stays, though an International Driving Permit is recommended. The licence must have been held for the minimum period stated in your voucher, typically one to two years.
Additional drivers may be added at the time of collection for a fee. Each additional driver must present their own valid licence and meet the same age and experience requirements as the main driver.
Identification in the form of a passport or national identity card is also required. All documents must be presented in person by the named driver.
You may drive the vehicle on public roads throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 80 km/h on open roads, and between 100 and 130 km/h on motorways. A motorway vignette is required for motorway use and may be arranged as an additional service.
Mountain roads are narrow and winding in many areas, and snow is common in higher regions between November and March. Ensure the vehicle you book is suitable for the terrain and season of your intended route. Four-wheel-drive vehicles with part-time 4WD or AWD systems are suited to gravel tracks and high passes.
Crossing into Croatia, Serbia, or Montenegro is usually permitted, but requires written permission from the rental company arranged in advance. This permission must be requested at the time of booking or before collection, and a fee typically applies.
The vehicle must not be driven off-road, used for racing or instruction, or operated under the influence of alcohol or substances. Violation of these conditions may void your insurance coverage and result in charges for damage or recovery.
If you need to change your booking dates, pick-up location, or vehicle type, contact us via [email protected] as early as possible. Changes are subject to availability and may incur a fee depending on how close to the pick-up date you request the amendment.
Cancellation terms depend on the vehicle and supplier. Full details are provided in your booking confirmation. In general, cancellations made well in advance attract lower or no charges, while cancellations close to the pick-up date may result in forfeiture of the advance payment or the full amount.
4Drive Bosnia arranges the booking between you and the local rental company. We are responsible for processing your booking and handling the advance payment, but we are not a party to the rental agreement itself.
The local supplier is responsible for the condition of the vehicle, roadside assistance, insurance coverage, and the resolution of any issues during the hire period. Claims for damage, personal injury, or loss must be directed to the rental company in accordance with the terms of your rental agreement.
We are not liable for delays, cancellations, or changes imposed by the supplier, or for any indirect losses arising from your use of the vehicle.
If you experience a problem during your hire, contact the rental company immediately using the details provided in your voucher. Most issues can be resolved quickly by the supplier on the ground.

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Any disputes arising from your use of our platform or the booking of a vehicle are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The rental agreement you sign with the local supplier is also governed by the law of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
